"The basic implication of the nature of the Christian message is, then, that the Christian message is a life message, not simply a word message. I believe this fact has high significance for us who seek to transmit God's message to others. For if the message is life, only life is an adequate vehicle for its transmission. If the message is merely words conveying information, then words are adequate vehicles. It is worth asking, What happens to a life message if it is reduced to mere words conveying mere information? Is not the message itself changed?"
